Jersey City, NJ — A new program funded by the Walmart Foundation will provide Hudson County residents a variety of free training opportunities in the fields of Transportation, Distribution and Logistics, known as “TDL” will begin in early January 2016 at a TBD start date. TDL training is essential to the US economy which increasingly relies on the economic efficiencies that these fields provide. The training program, called “Delivering the TDL Workforce,” will allow the Hudson County workforce to adapt and meet the emerging economic growth in New Jersey and the nation.
The Hudson County TDL program will provide free training for unemployed and underemployed job seekers who live in and around Hudson County. The TDL training is a partnership between the Walmart Foundation, Jobs for the Future, Jersey City Employment and Training, the City of Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey City University, the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation, and the Hudson County Workforce Investment Board.
Increasingly TDL plays a pivotal role in the U.S. economy, with 4.6 million workers facilitating the shipping, logistics, tracking, and execution of shipments around the world. The ongoing Hudson County TDL Training Program will start its first four week course on October 19, 2015.
The on-going four week course will include the following training modules: Forklift Operator Safety Training (Equipment Classes I-V), Logistics Communication/CRM, Shipping and Receiving Technology, Fundamentals of Logistics: Math and Terminology, and a 10 Hour OSHA General Industry Safety and Health Course.
The TDL training will be provided at the New Jersey City University’s (NJCU) Logistics Center in Jersey City. Programming will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m five days a week, some weeks running from Monday to Friday and others Tuesday to Saturday.

Applicants must be residents of Hudson County or the surrounding area, at least eighteen years old, have a high school diploma, and have a sixth grade reading/math level.
